2018 Award Recipients

Janelle Forbes Trophy

2018 Best Club Ambassador Award: Emma Hill 

Emma was awarded this trophy as she was the player who has made the most outstanding contributions to Ridgettes Netball Club both on and off the court. 

Hopper/Dixon Trophy

2018 Netballer of the Year: Maddi Davies

Maddi was awarded this trophy as she was the player who has achieved the most success during the previous 12 months in terms of representative honours (club & school), Association awards and Accreditations. 

Nicole Forbes Trophy

2018 Most Valuable Player of Division 1: Bronte Prass

Bronte was awarded this trophy after being voted by coaches and players of all Ridgettes Division 1 teams as the Most Valuable Player.

Maree Swindell's Trophy

2018 Umpire of the Year: Holly Smith

Holly was awarded this trophy due to her commitment to Ridgettes as a club umpire, her availability and her skill level were all taken into account when awarding her this trophy.

Junior Umpire of the Year

2018 Junior Umpire of the Year: Rebecca Kelleher

Rebecca was awarded this trophy due to her commitment to Ridgettes as a beginner umpire and for her commitment to learning new skills in umpiring.

Melissa Witt Trophy

 2018 Junior Netballer of the Year: Keely Plumb

Keely was awarded this trophy as she turned 12 years of age and has achieved the most success during the previous 12 months in terms of representative honours (club & school), Association awards and Accreditations.

Russell/Casablanca Trophy

2018 Junior Sportsperson of the Year: Ma’u Naufahu

This trophy is awarded to a 12 year old who displays the best qualities to achieve success in a team sport (attitude, ability, versatility and reliability). The player must be competing in the 12 years age group for fixtures. 


Jacinta Messer Trophy

2018 Division 1 Player with Most Potential: Georgia West

Georgia was awarded this trophy as she showed the most potential as by consensus amongst Division 1 coaches. 

Piper Uzelac Trophy

Piper Uzelac Trophy is awarded to an Intermediate player who reflects Piper’s love of netball and possesses and displays:

  • ·        A willingness to cooperate with team mates, coaches and officials
  • ·        A desire to help teams and the club succeed
  • ·        Has energy and passion for the club
  • ·        Has enthusiasm and commitment for training
  • ·        Is loyal, respectful, positive and gracious and fair

Awards info

At the conclusion of each Winter Season, Ridgettes will hold a Presentation Day/Event. Each player with the club receives recognition for their efforts on the netball court during the year. 
Each player is only eligible for one trophy at the end of the Winter Season (Perpetual Trophy or Team Award). A player may also receive any number of Special Awards (5, 10, 15 or 20 seasons with the club award, a Club Umpiring Award etc).

Players 12 years and younger will each receive a trophy. Players 13 years and above will receive a plaque. 

To be eligible to be awarded a Team or Perpetual Trophy, the player must be a full time financial member, not a player on reduced fees for whatever reason.
